*face palm* [01 Aug 2007|04:54pm]
[ mood | tired ]

With yesterday's travesty I thought I'd seen everything, but no. I was going through communities that many of you my dear friends list pay attention to and ran across this and nearly died. For those of you ready to have all your illusions shattered check this out.

I'm going to wipe the tears of hysterical laughter from my eyes and get back to work.

Merry Christmas [25 Dec 2004|03:23pm]
It's been a quiet Christmas for me and the three cats. Yes, I did say three. Two are mine and one I borrowed... or am cat sitting... or something. Not sure I'm giving her back though. Spent most of the morning chatthing with family and such and updating my webpage. Poor thing was almost as far behind as this live journal is. *cringe*

Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

Monkee's Flashback [06 Sep 2004|05:35pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

Today my lovely roommate and I went up to Maryland to a festival and saw Peter Tork and his band Shoes Suede Blues play. The traffic was ridiculously light and while planning to be fashionably late, ended up arriving right on time. Go figure that one. The music was a lot of fun, although it was very apparent that the musicians were not the most rambunchous of men.... even for their age. (Peter's pushing 60.)

With every step forward I am more nervous... [30 Aug 2004|04:24pm]
Update... As many of you know, I am waiting patiently to hear from the FAA in reguards to Air Traffic Control. After two weeks of waiting patiently... or perhaps not so patiently, I called the HR phone number again. The information I was given is encouraging, but has actually made me more nervous then I was before.

Sleep? Why? [23 Aug 2004|04:44pm]
While Miss Cyloran lazed about the house with nothing to do, my weekend was so busy I literally did not have time to sleep. Saturday morning I woke up at 5:30, rushed to the airport and borded a plane bound for the blooming state of Indiana.

The plane ride was wonderful. I sat on the front row and chatted with the attendant the whole time. He was a delight. The flight was only 1.5 hours but I had such a good time I was sorry when I finally had to get off... except for the fact I had to pee so bad I could hardly stand it. The only time you ever have turbulance is when you have had too much water to drink.

I then spent the day with an old friend, her husband and her rather nutty family. He was getting baptised which was the reason for the trip in the first time. I caught up on all the gossip, was well fed and had a great time. I have one other friend in Indiana and so I spent that night with her. Actually I spent most of it talking to her ex which was fun too. We debated religion, politics, romance... and everything else we could think of. We seem to have completely opposite opinions on all issues, and yet were able to debate the issues knowledgably and without making it personal. It was wonderful!

I was dragged away from that conversation at 3:00 am to go back to the airport and catch another plane home. Once home I went to breakfast with miss Cyloran and SuziQ, shopping and then home. Of course as soon as I got home the whole world called me and wanted to chat for hours and hours. I did get a 4 hour nap on Sunday and then another 7 last night.

Oh well... sleep is highly over-rated anyway.

It works! It works! [09 Aug 2004|11:03am]
Rebuilding a computer is always filled with ups and downs. Yesterday was the last of a long series of days dedicated to making my new capture card work. After a heart-stopping moment when the computer itself would not turn back on, and even my good friend and beloved IT guy did not have a clue why, it is now back up and running. Even better the capture card works like a dream. It had better after all the money that was poured into it.

Like all things in real life this happy ending comes with a 'but....' Now that the capture card is working, I've got to figure out how to work my DVD burner. *big sigh* Somehow I get the feeling this is going to be a never ending project.

SuziQ has good news.... [06 Aug 2004|01:28pm]
I'm just so proud of her I can hardly stand it. Of course if you want to know what the good news is you are going to have to ask SuziQ. After all, it would not be fair for me to blab to the whole world her very special, extremely exciting news. *beams*

On another note... It's Friday!!!!! And my parts came for my computer yesterday. That means that once again my entire weekend is going to be sacrificed to the computer gods in an attempt to try and get this fun little video capture card of my working. All I can say is that it better run as smooth as silk from now on. The good news is that we will be able to take SuziQ's trunks worth of tapes and carry them around in a few CD books. Transportation costs alone should make up for what this thing has cost us. *crosses fingers*

New Job... [05 Aug 2004|12:28pm]
I love my father. He calls yesterday and asks me if I want to make money building websites. Well duh.. Now the only question is am I capable of building what he wants. Only time will tell. Actually, I am pretty certain I can't do this, but then that's what friends are for. SuziQ has already done a ton of research and I have ever intention of making use of the other computer guru's listed on my cel phone. Actually if anyone has any recommedations for servers willing to host professional websites with intereactive shopping I would be greatly appreciative.

Bringing the Dead to life... [03 Aug 2004|04:37pm]
I bet you all thought this page was dead didn't you? Well, it was. But I'm going to be give my best shot at reviving it.

First task is how to update the last 8 months.... umm... yeah right. So let's just start with now. I am still not employed as a Air Traffic Controller because the government thought it would be funny to put the entire FAA on a hiring freeze. I'm not laughing. At the moment I am back working as a receptionist to meet the bills.

Enough with the bad news... Good news is that I have spent the last little while updating both my computer and my website. The website is not done yet but hopefully soon. Comments and suggestions can be left here or sent to me at rawlypop@yahoo.com. My other large project is that I have obtained a video capture card and have ever intention of figuring out how it works... hopefully this year.

I know this is an awfully short post for having been away so long, but I hope to have covered the basics and with my family getting access to my website it kind of forces me to keep updated at least somewhat. Thanks to everyone for their patience.

Update [24 Dec 2003|10:29am]
[ mood | Merry ]

Ack! Who knew moving was such a pain in the butt. After having been spoiled with a cable modem for a year and a half I am now reduced to using my parents dial up for the next month. *shudders* However I refuse to let these great challenges over-whelm me.

My entire family has arrived for the holidays and things are beyond crazy. I have yet to have an entire 8 hours straight sleep, not to mention that I have been assigned to sleeping on the couch since I am still single and all the married couples get the beds. *grumbles*

I am way behind on everything! *wails* Working on it! Promise. I am probably not going to have time to get on IM until after Christmas. Considering that is tomorrow that's not a bad deal. With any luck I will be back up to speed on everything by then.

Merry Christmas All! May your holidays be filled with love, laughter and the joys of giving!

I passed! [18 Dec 2003|04:08pm]
After a heart-wrentching 24 hours it is finally official. I PASSED! I may be a wee big excited about this considering I have dedicated my last 4 months to this. Currently I am sitting in a furnitureless apartment, with the real need to clean and pack, but after only 3 hours of sleep last night what I really want to do is sleep. *yawn* Thank you for everyone's love and support.

I PASSED!

Feedback! [04 Aug 2003|01:24pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

Okay, this is the part where I shamelessly beg for feedback. *gets down on her knees* I posted my response to the Pet Peeve and Rainbow Connection challenge. I had not intended on combining them until this morning, but I think it worked out rather well. Feedback is the lifeblood of all writers but inparticular I am looking for people who do not know my family to read through and let me know whether or not they get lost. Here is the link!

Quirkyalone [29 Jul 2003|10:06am]
How quirkyalone are you?
Your score was 107. Very quirkyalone:
Relatives may give you quizzical looks, and so may friends, but you know in your heart of hearts that you are following your inner voice. Though you may not be romancing a single person, you are romancing the world. Celebrate your freedom on National Quirkyalone Day, February 14th!

No surprise there. While I have had my share of relationships they have ranged from a bit odd to extremely strange. The current (and with any luck final) relationship I am in is a perfect example. As a heterosexual female, I am in love with another heterosexual female. We attempted to have sex during the first part of our relationship but have given that up as too much of a strain. We spend a lot of our free time writing fiction about homosexual males (my significant other prefers elves but I am not that picky), and drooling over men in general. Anyone else consider this slightly strange? And yet I am completely happy and comfortable. I guess we are another example of taking love where you find it and not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
